Patong Da Mario - authentic Italian food in Patong can be found in Da Mario Italian restaurant near the CNN hotel on the way to Karon. This modest Italian restaurant is found opposite a row of art galleries, and is best enjoyed in a big group, as portions are big, and almost everything is worth ordering. Live lobster and fish is available and pastas are home-made.
Savoey Seafood a Patong institution known for its fresh seafood - Savoey is found at the end of Patong Beach Road near the entrance of Soi Bang la. Offering an outdoor and indoor area, this is frequented mostly by tourists, but locals occasionally show up for a meal when friends and family are in town.
Joe's Downstairs - one of Patong's upmarket eateries where pricey tapas, and even pricier drinks are served with a smile. Unparalleled views, great décor, and fantastic service combine to make this restaurant/bar one of the most commercially successful places on the island.
JDa Maurizio's - Italian food by the sea - Da Maurizio is one of Phuket's first Italian restaurants. Da Maurizio rests tucked away from public view on a small headland where the sea is literally just a stone's throw away. An ala carte menu offers traditional Italian fare However, if you would like some modern variations of all-time favourites, Chef Cameron Stuart offers specially crafted menus for every occasion to suit all tastes and palettes. Chef Cam's specials include: prawns with a sauce made of saffron, coconut, and tamarind on homemade pasta, sweet corn soup with crab and chili oil, and fish with an herb crust served with asparagus puree. For desserts, Chef Cam's panna cotta is without doubt the best one on the island. Baan Rim Paa - one of the most recognisable names on the island, Baan Rim Paa is known for its royal Thai cuisine which has been served from the same beautiful location for the last 15 years. Kata Capanina - fantastic pizzas from a small Italian restaurant in Kata - located at the end of a soi In Kata near the Sugar Palm Resort, Capanina is known for its wood-fire pizzas made from imported darum wheat flour. Mom Tri's Kitchen - Kata's most beautiful restaurant offers an unrivalled sea view and wine list from the old residence of Mom Tri Devakul (one of Thailand's most acclaimed architects). Very pricey, and rather over-rated food, but this is arguably the most stunning locations on the island that is best enjoyed at sunset with a bottle of Chablis.
Boathouse - fronting Kata Beach with direct beach access, the Boathouse is an excellent location to enjoy a sunset cocktail before moving on to dinner at the restaurant. The menu comprises delicious appetizers and mains: lobster with avocado dip and Red Mullet with salsa are favourites among guests. The wine list is one of the best on the island.
Surin
Paula's Retro Cafe - is simply one of the best places for breakfast Surin has to offer. Paula's is a favourite with locals residing in Surin with its offerings of healthy and tasty treats like: banana bread, eggs Benedict, and Breakfast burrito - scrambled eggs, bacon and cilantro rolled in a tortilla. The lunch menu comprises more healthy delights like feta and spinach quiche, a whole array of salads and lots of different types of sandwiches. Closed for dinner. Oriental Spoon - Surin's popular resort Twin Palms serves the island's most famous Sunday Brunch in its flagship restaurant: Oriental Spoon. Boasting a good selection of fresh seafood, sushi, as well as roast beef and chicken, Twin Palm's Sunday brunch also offers salads, cheeses, strawberries dipped in chocolate, and arguably the best crème brulee on the island. A complimentary bottle of white wine is served with every table for two, making Oriental Spoon is the perfect place to while away a Sunday afternoon. Catch - Twin Palm's beach club was the first of its kind on Surin Beach. Offering live music on the beach in the evenings, Catch in the day boasts a well-crafted menu comprising Thai and Mediterranean food like: Antipasti, Gazpacho, and Tod Mun Kung. Guests of Twin Palms are also able to enjoy complimentary use of the loungers and day beds. For non-hotel guests, loungers and day beds can be rented at 1,500THB per day. Bangtao
The Capri - is probably the best value Italian restaurant in the Bangtao area of Phuket. Located at the entrance to Laguna, the Capri offers very good pizzas and pastas at hard-to-beat prices. The panna cottas here are absolutely delicious and if you have a soft spot for rich velvety ice cream, you surely wouldn't be disappointed by the Capri's coconut and chocolate ice creams. Lotus - fresh seafood by the beach is best enjoyed on the sands and there's no better place in Bangtao to enjoy al fresco dining than at Lotus seafood restaurant. Offering an extensive array of live seafood ranging from mud crabs, snappers to king prawns, a relaxing beachside atmosphere, and skilful chefs, Lotus is a great place to bring the entire family for an evening of good food under the stars. Siam Supperclub - located at the entrance of Laguna, Siam Supperclub is a beautifully decorated restaurant with a full selection of delicious Italian and Thai food. Home to the best pizza on Phuket; which, when washed down with cold beer after a day's work, is one of the best meals you can get on the island, making Siam Supperclub a favourite among those who live and work on the island. Owner Sean Powers is always a gracious host; sharing anecdotes, playing tunes, and mixing drinks - the bar serves an excellent vodka martini. Tatonka - Modern French food at the entrance of Laguna - served in a comfortable setting with plenty of plants in both outdoor and indoor sitting areas. The restaurant boasts an excellent selection of wines, spirits, and cocktails, as well as food prepared with the freshest ingredients. Siam Deli - great sandwiches, hearty breakfasts: open for breakfast and lunch - no-fuss good food comprising light meals and healthy choices of various breads. Kargo - Kargo is the perfect place to either to take your sweetheart after dinner or catch up with friends after work. The one-and-a-half storey bar, serving Kingfisher beer, a premium lager from India, is now open in Phuket serving a range of wines, spirits and cocktails. Dinner and tapas are also available.. Kalim Lim's - modern Thai food in an art gallery - found off the beaten track on a hill in Kalim, Lim's offers a good selection of Thai favourites at reasonable prices.
Phuket Town Ka Jok See - modern Thai restaurant in Phuket Town, tucked away from public view in an old shop house. Interiors are lit with candle lights, and decorated with pieces of art depicting Phuket's colourful history - it is as if you are in a tastefully furnished dining room. Thai food is served with shots of margarita. Towards the end of the night, tables are moved aside and dancing music is played - guests are encouraged to take to the dance floor for a round of salsa by the elegant manageress.
Siam indigo - Phuket Town's latest restaurant is set in a beautifully restored shop house with a central courtyard - the interior space doubles up as a gallery showcasing art pieces from Italy, and guests have the choice of dining indoors or outdoors on a selection of Thai and Italian dishes. |
